Favourite Moments in Fiction #12 – Ventus & Mickey VS Vanitas (Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep)

WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep

Following on from last week’s VG Music Pick, I want to write about the scene where that music piece debuts – Ventus’ first fight with Vanitas. The music on it’s own is really good, but it takes on a whole new level of awesome when it’s combined with this scene. Continue reading

The Entertainment Dome Episode 88 – BOI!!!

This week on The Entertainment Dome, James and I are less than impressed with the Detroit: Become Human demo (to the point where we don’t even remember the game’s name), before moving on to a good PS4 game – God of War – and then we wrap things up with a quick look at the new Kingdom Hearts III details.

My VG Music Picks #61 – Enter the Darkness (Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep)

WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep

While I don’t have as much as an emotional connection to many of Kingdom Hearts‘ original characters as some people do, I won’t deny that the series has some effective and enjoyable original antagonists. For example, Vanitas from Birth by Sleep became an instant favourite of mine due to his personality, his vocal performance and his theme music. Continue reading

My Ten Favourite Justice League Episodes

WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Justice League

Justice-League-animated

I’m just gonna cut to the chase – I consider Justice League to be one of the best cartoons ever made and the standard that I hold a lot of other shows up to, particularly DC’s other animated offerings. It’s responsible for why I love so many of DC’s superhero characters (especially its depictions of Superman and Batman) and introduced me to characters I might otherwise have never known. To this day, I’m still mad that the series never got a DVD release outside of America.

So after recently re-watching the series in its entirety with a friend of mine, I figured why not finally express my love on this site by listing my ten favourite episodes from the show. Continue reading

You’re Welcome – A Marvel Parody

NOTE: If you would like to cover this song, then you are free to do so as long as you provide me with writing credit and a source to this post. Thanks!

Yep, I actually made another one of these. You can blame my friend, Christina, for implanting this idea in my head – You’re Welcome sung from the perspective of Thanos. Lyrics can be found below but be warned – there are spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War here. Also I can’t sing but what else is new? Enjoy!

My VG Music Picks #60 – A Cue Aun Tu Oi / A Red Apple (Gravity Rush 2)

WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Gravity Rush 2

One of my favourite scenes in Gravity Rush 2 is when Kat is mistaken for a singer and has to perform for some soldiers, because it’s so silly, especially since it seems like Kat is making this song up on the fly, but it’s also incredibly charming (not to mention she’s a damn good singer). Detective Pikachu – A Bolt of Brilliance Or A Load of Trubbish?

H2x1_3DS_DetectivePikachu_enGB_image1600w

When this game was first announced, it raised a lot of eyebrows, myself included. In a good way, mind you. The idea of a game centered around a gruff-sounding, coffee-loving, talking Pikachu seemed so crazy that it could actually work, or at the very least was worth experiencing. But after its official announcement, we heard basically nothing about the thing for, like, three years until it was suddenly released in Japan in early 2016.

Cut to two years later and the game not only received an expansion but was released in its entirety here in the West for us to enjoy. But was it worth the wait? Does it offer anything of substance outside of its bizarre concept? Is there any reason it should also be getting a movie adaptation? Well, I think I can answer those first two questions at least. Continue reading
