It’s been years since I’ve played Diddy Kong Racing but whenever I try to think of music from it, this theme is one of the few that comes to mind. The Frosty Village racecourse wasn’t a particular favourite of mine; it was decent but definitely rather simple compared to some of the other courses. I think it’s the music, though, that helps make it stand out.
Not only is it good racing music by being energetic, it manages to perfectly capture that wintery feeling through its use of whistles and sleigh bells in the background. It’s the only course in the Snowflake Mountain area that tries to have that Christmas feel and I think the music was designed this way to help that. While I wouldn’t personally have this playing out of my speakers during the yuletide season, I couldn’t blame someone for sticking it on to get themselves in the mood.
