The Wolf Among Us – Not Big but Definitely Not Bad

(originally posted February 27th 2015)

I’ve got to give credit to TellTale. They managed to not only sucker me into playing The Walking Dead, a game of a franchise I avoided for so long due to my prejudice against zombies and post-apocalypse stories, but make me love it too. When all was said and done though I naturally craved more point-and-click goodness; then I remembered another game they made called The Wolf Among Us. One quick Google Search later and I knew I had to check it out. And boy, am I glad I did. Continue reading

Remember Me – Cherished Memory or Totally Forgettable?

(originally posted January 23rd 2015)

Sometimes all it takes is an idea to get me to play a game. It could seem relatively minor but the very notion is enough to grab my interest. For Remember Me, it was the ability to enter a person’s memory and alter it. I can’t remember exactly where I heard about it but it made me want to give the game a go, despite its mixed reviews. Having now played it, though, is the game itself any good? Continue reading

Ten Anticipated Games of 2015

(originally posted January 2nd 2015)

2014 was a mixed year for videogames. It was the year we got an HD Mario Kart, Layton VS Ace Attorney finally came to the West and we were graced with two Smash Bros titles. But it was also the year that gave us the mess that was Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric, the disappointment that was Watch Dogs and the insult that was Assassin’s Creed: Unity.

But let’s not dwell on the past; let’s focus on the future because 2015 has got some great titles in the pipeline. So, here’s what I’m looking forward to what’s coming out this year, Continue reading

My Seven Favourite Super Smash Bros Newcomers

(originally posted December 19th 2014)

Both of the new Super Smash Bros games are finally out and we could not be happier. The series is loved for a number of reasons, but probably the big one is seeing which characters get the honour of becoming playable and getting the opportunity to duke it out with Nintendo’s biggest stars. We all have our preferences, so here are my personal favourites of the fifteen newcomers from the latest games. Continue reading

Watch Dogs – Why I No Longer Care

(originally posted December 5th 2014)

When Ubisoft’s new IP Watch Dogs was announced, I was originally not that interested, but that was more down to visual aesthetics than anything. I’m not a fan of ‘realistic’ looking games because they always seem to consist of nothing but greys and browns in terms of their colour palette. But upon seeing some actual trailers and learning what the game was about, I couldn’t help but start getting excited. Continue reading

Persona 3 Portable – Thou Art Quite Good

Persona 4 quickly became one of my favourite games of all time, so I naturally became curious about its predecessor, Persona 3. Turns out there are like three versions of the thing; I settled on the PSP remake since it played similarly to P4 (I’m not fond of the idea of not having control over my own party members; I don’t trust the AI). I was worried that my love for its sequel would cause me to view P3 as a downgrade, and while P4 is certainly a superior title, P3 is still a good game and has plenty of great things about it. So, I’m gonna dedicate this article to all the things I liked. Let’s pull out our Evokers and get this started. Continue reading

Ten Personal Scary Videogame Moments

(originally posted November 7th 2014)

WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for the following games:

Batman: Arkham Asylum
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Persona 4
Professor Layton VS Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions
Super Paper Mario
The Walking Dead Season One
Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward

I know I’m a week late to the party but I figured that with all the love for Halloween, I’d share some of my personal scary moments from videogames. Though I should note that I don’t play a lot of horror videogames. Hell, I don’t even like the horror genre all that much, so don’t expect the usual titles or scenes that plague most ‘scary moments’ lists. Continue reading

Nine Characters That Should Be in a Project X Zone Sequel

(originally posted October 31st 2014)

In case the month’s worth of articles didn’t make it painfully obvious by this point, I love Project X Zone and, though it may never happen, I still dream of a sequel. What would change? What would be kept the same? I dunno, but what I do know is who I’d want to appear in it. The only rule is that they have to be Capcom, Sega and Namco characters. Continue reading
