I instantly fell in love with the Ultra Beasts when they were first announced for Pokémon Sun & Moon. They were so alien in design, so unnatural looking and a little bit scary to boot. And on top of that, they have an amazing theme to go along with their appearances.

It’s got a real techno-vibe that captures that sense of otherworldliness. Even though you can tell just by looking at them that they don’t belong in the Alola region, the music only heightens that feeling. I also love that opening sting; it sounds like an alien cry to me.

But while the track does a good job of instilling a sense of dread into the player, with a great pace that’s neither too slow or too quick, it’s still a funky beat that can be enjoyed independently. Hunting the Ultra Beasts in the post-game could become something of a chore, but this head-banger of a track made it much easier to get through.
