I’m honestly annoyed with how little progress I’ve made with Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth. Despite having so many aspects that I absolutely love, I haven’t been able to consistently play it in the last year because I don’t really enjoy its core gameplay. Which is such a damn shame since I love everything else, particularly its battle music.
Just listen to this track, used for fighting the main bosses within the labyrinth. Aside from incorporating the traditional Persona method of lyrics that don’t make sense or can barely be understood, it starts off suitably intense; already you feel slight dread about the enemy.
But it soon segues into something more hopeful. The intensity remains but now it feels like it’s in support of you and fills you with determination.
It’s certainly a repetitive track but when in the heat of battle, you don’t notice it. It makes me enjoy fighting these bosses, even if they’re intimidating and difficult. Now if only I could actually enjoy playing the rest of the game.
