For as much as I get frustrated with Kingdom Hearts, it’s a series that’s near and dear to me. I may grumble about some aspects of it constantly, but I’ll always keep coming back for its tight, action-RPG gameplay, enjoyable characters and its general oddball charm. And if I didn’t love it, I wouldn’t be interested in finding out curious tid-bits and random trivia all about it. So how about we take a look at the game that started it all and learn something new today? Continue reading

The Entertainment Dome Episode 107 – I Blame the Incest

This week on The Entertainment Dome, we decide to hold off on talking about Kingdom Hearts III for the time being so we can discuss the latest Nintendo Direct, where James gets excited over the new Fire Emblem and I completely derail the conversation by bringing up the series’ previous “problematic” relationships.

My VG Music Picks #73 – One-Winged Angel (Final Fantasy VII)

WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Final Fantasy VII

It’s high time I wrote about one of the most iconic pieces of music ever made – not just for Final Fantasy VII, but for videogames in general. Even if you’ve never so much as looked at FFVII, you’ve undoubtedly heard this piece somewhere before. I’m honestly not sure if there’s anything new I can really mention about it because, well, what else is there to say that hasn’t most likely already been said? Continue reading

Ten Anticipated Games of 2019

2018 was a very mixed year in terms of videogames. It was a year of stellar highs and abysmal lows. On one hand, the PS4 exclusive Spider-Man game proved that not only were single-player titles still in demand but licensed games could also be incredible, Octopath Traveler was a perfect throwback to SNES-era RPGs and showed how beloved turn-based RPGs still are and only last month we got Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which very much lived up to its name considering it’s a game where Princess Peach can beat up Cloud Strife in the middle of Dracula’s Castle.

On the other hand, however, gross mismanagement led to the closure of TellTale Games, resulting in several highly anticipated titles getting cancelled and its employees suddenly jobless, the lootbox craze became so bad that some countries have made them illegal, which sets a worrying precedent for the possibility of games becoming regulated, and do I even need to bring up the utter fuster-cluck that was Fallout 76?

As always, I prefer to not dwell on the past but focus on the future. We all have high expectations for 2019 and while I’m sure there’s a myriad of bullshit headed our way, there’re gonna be some amazing things too. So let me share with you the ten games I’m most looking forward to this year. Continue reading

A new Super Smash Bros. game is on the way, which means the Internet is rife once more with debates and theories as to which new characters will get the chance to duke it out with Nintendo’s greatest all-stars. Though now the discussion has changed slightly thanks to the introduction of Echo Fighters.

While it might just be a fancy new term for the long maligned clone characters, people seem to have accepted this idea with fondness. This feature means we can have new characters easily join the roster as glorified palette swaps while still retaining their original personalities. So far, we have Lucina, Dark Pit and newcomer Daisy acting as Echo Fighters for Marth, Pit and Peach respectively, and fans are already wondering if we’ll see any more show up.

Of course, I have some ideas of my own that I’d love to see. So even if we don’t get any new, original characters, here are ten Echo Fighters whose inclusion would make me more than happy. Continue reading
