What I Think about Korrasami

(originally posted March 27th 2015)

(WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for The Legend of Korra and Avatar: The Last Airbender)

Let’s talk about that Legend of Korra ending, shall we? Not the final episode, just the ending. I mean, that episode was pretty frigging great for a number of reasons but after it aired, a lot of people’s focus was on that last scene. If you’ve seen the show, then you know what I’m talking about. If you don’t, then go watch all four seasons, then come back and continue reading. Continue reading

The Legend of Zelda TV Series – Can It Work?

(originally posted February 13th 2015)

The Wall Street Journal recently reported that a live-action Legend of Zelda series was in the works, and that Netflix of all people would be the one to make it. Neither Netflix nor Nintendo have said anything about the matter (I wouldn’t be surprised if this turns out to be false or gets canned before anything even happens) but it does make me wonder: could a TV show based on one of Nintendo’s most popular franchises work? Do We Need Another Avatar Series?

Korra-next-to-statue

The Legend of Korra, the sequel series to the insanely popular Nickelodeon cartoon Avatar: The Last Airbender, came to a close back in December. Tears were undoubtedly shed, both from joy and from sadness. Battles had ended, ships had sailed and everything was wrapped up… rather ambiguously, in all honesty. The future of the Avatar series is seemingly unknown at this point; there is no confirmation or denial of a new show to carry things on. So, I wonder; do we need another show? … That’s a bit of a dumb question, isn’t it? The answer is a very loud ‘yes.’ Continue reading

Ten of My Favourite Beast Wars Episodes

(WARNING: The following post contains spoilers for ‘Beast Wars’)

If you didn’t read last week’s post on ‘Beast Wars,’ why not? That hurts my feelings. You should read it. But if you really don’t want to, then the short version is that I love the show. So, to follow up on it, I bring you ten of my favourite episodes across the series. Continue reading

My History with Transformers Part 1 – Beast Wars

(originally posted July 18th 2014)

With the latest of Michael Bay’s live-action ‘Transformers’ films out, making undeserved millions of dollars, I found myself turning towards the shows that made me fall in love with the franchise in the first place. So, rather than waste my time talking about why the Bay films suck, I’m going to spend it on the material that deserves to be talked about – three of them to be exact, and we’re gonna kick off with the very first ‘Transformers’ show I ever watched: ‘Beast Wars.’ Continue reading

How the Ending Can Ruin the Beginning

(originally posted April 18th 2014)

(WARNING: The following post contains spoilers for the final episode of ‘How I Met Your Mother’ and ‘A Doll’s House’)

On March 31st 2014, the long running US sitcom ‘How I Met Your Mother’ ended after nine seasons. Usually when a series such as this comes to an end, there is much fanfare. The fans come together in unison to bid farewell to their beloved characters and, sometimes, tears are shed. But ‘HIMYM’ wound up doing something that took me by surprise. The final episode created a chasm that split the fanbase down the middle. I hesitate to use the word ‘controversial’ but opinions were definitely mixed.
