My VG Music Picks #37 – Battle! Lysandre (Pokémon X & Y)

WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Pokémon X and Pokémon Y

As far as Pokémon villains go, I honestly think Team Flare from Pokémon X is the worst we’ve had. They were just so uninteresting and pathetically easy to fight (though, to be fair, the whole game was pretty easy), and that extends to their leader, Lysandre, as well. On the plus side, listen to this music that plays when you battle him. The Entertainment Dome Episode 37 – Can You Tell I’ve Not Played Mass Effect?

WARNING: This episode contains spoilers for the Mass Effect series

This week on The Entertainment Dome, James and I try to cheer ourselves up over recent events by recapping the latest RWBY Volume 4 episode (which is, ironically, a pretty sad one), catching up on all the Pokémon Sun & Moon news we’ve missed (and a couple of the leaks too) and discussing the newest info for Mass Effect: Andromeda.

The Entertainment Dome Episode 28 – MONACA!!!

What I Think may be on a hiatus of sorts at the moment, but that doesn’t mean James and I can’t do Entertainment Dome episodes! This week, we continue to express joy, anger, sadness and confusion at the roller-coaster that is Danganronpa 3, we pretend to act surprised about Telltale’s terrible PC version of their Batman game and we get particularly excited over all the new details for Pokémon Sun & Moon.

My VG Music Picks #26 – Lavender Town (Pokémon Red/Blue/Yellow)

Pokémon, at it’s core, is ultimately a thing for kids. When you glance at the advertising, the simple gameplay and the cuddly creatures that populate the many regions, you think to yourself “Yeah, I know some children that would love this.” But every once in a while, something will occur that causes those same wide-eyed innocent kids, with a dream to be the very best like no one ever was, to shit themselves. For many of us aficionados of Pokémon, that very first moment was in the original games. Continue reading

Thirty of My Favourite Pokémon Ever

English_Pokémon_logo.svg

Can you believe it’s Pokémon‘s 20th anniversary? When I really think about it, it’s almost surreal that this franchise based around enslaving fantasy monsters to do battle with other fantasy monsters has been going on for that long. I’ve grown up with it since almost the beginning; the first videogame I ever owned was a copy of Pokémon Yellow and I watched the original series of the anime almost religiously. It’s just weird to see something that I loved as a child still be around and relevant today. It’s even weirder to see how many Pokémon actually exist now.

I remember when the 3rd Generation of games were coming out and I was worried about remembering all of these creatures. There’s now over 700 of the bloody things and I reckon if you showed me a picture of any of them, I could name them easily. I may not remember basic maths but I sure can tell the difference between a Magikarp and a Feebas.

With this many Pokémon, it’s not that hard for a fan to list off a few of their personal favourites. I, however, would like to share thirty of my favourite Pokémon – five from each of the six generations. Let’s not waste anymore time and dive right in (hope you’ve got the right HM). Continue reading
